Jay Morris has won the Louisiana Senate seat in District 35.
Morris, a Republican representative who currently represents House District 14, challenged fellow Republican lawmaker Jim Fannin for the northern and central Louisiana seat.
Fannin won the Senate District 35 four years ago after serving three terms in the House as chairman of the Appropriations Committee.
Three north Louisiana House races were also decided in Saturday's general election.
In House District 20, Neil Riser was elected over Kevin Bates with 51% of the vote.
Travis Johnson secured 59% of the vote in House District 21 against Glen McGlothin Jr. while Foy Gadberry won in House District 15 with 53%.
The following are complete but unofficial results as listed by the Louisiana Secretary of State's website.
Candidates in bold have won their races. A candidate must take at least 50 percent of the total votes, plus one to win.

Jim Fannin (R) - 50%, 17,894 votes
Jay Morris (R) - 50%, 18,167 votes
House District 15
Foy Gadberry (R) - 53%, 8,092 votes
Justin M. Tidwell (R) - 47%, 7,114 votes
House District 20
Kevin Bates (R) - 49%, 8,099 votes
Neil Riser (R) - 51%, 8,368 votes
House District 21
C. Travis Johnson (D) - 59%, 7,856 votes
Glen B. McGlothin Jr. (I) - 41%, 5,528 votes
