Mother, five children displaced after Evanston house fire - The Cincinnati Enquirer

EVANSTON, Ohio (FOX19) -A mother and five children were displaced after a house fire occurred in an Evanston home early Sunday.

Fire Chief Louis Arnold says the fire happened in the 1600 block of Jonathan Avenue at 12:43 a.m.

When fire crews arrived, people on the scene told firefighters there were still people, including children, inside.

Fire crews saw the flames coming from the second-floor window and fire coming through the roof of the three-story home.

Cheif Arnold says the fire was difficult to get to because the fire was in the knee-walls of the attic.

Fire Chief Arnold says fire crews initiated an aggressive interior fire attack while searching all areas of the home for the victims.

The fire was put out in 10 minutes, says Fire Chief Arnold.

Family members who showed up to the scene say the children were at another location, but no contact with the mother.

Fire Chief Arnold says the overall damage is estimated at $50,000.

The fire remains under investigation.
