At 27, Katie Holmes‘ life forever changed when she welcomed daughter Suri with then-husband Tom Cruise. 13 years later, the “Dawson’s Creek” alum said she wouldn’t have scripted her life any other way.
“I was happy to become a mom in my twenties,” Holmes, now 40, shared in the December issue of Elle UK. “It’s been nice that our ages fit … how do I put this? Every age that my child has been and my age at that time has been a good match. We kind of grew up together.”
Holmes married Cruise, 57, in November 2006, seven months after Suri’s birth. She filed for divorce in June 2012 after five years of marriage.
Following her split from Cruise, Holmes went on to date Jamie Foxx for six years. The couple parted ways in August, the same month Holmes turned heads in a $500 cashmere bra.
“I love this brand, Khaite,” Holmes said. “I’m not wearing the bra with it today. I bought it [the bra] because I thought it was cool. The cardigan’s so big, it’s cute to just wear the bra underneath it.”
Holmes, who paired her the bra with Khaite’s matching $1,540 cardigan during the August outing, said she never anticipated the look to gain traction.
“I wasn’t expecting it to be something people would talk about,” she said.
